School fit
Is Lowell a fit?
- The school
- Lowell is the one SFUSD high school that admits by academic criteria. Students are admitted through one of three bands, and all other SFUSD high schools use the district assignment process.
- Grades
- Grades 9 through 12. Most students enter in Grade 9; a small number of transfer seats open in Grades 10 to 12.
- Transfers
- Students may apply to transfer into Lowell in Grades 10 to 12 for 2027-28 between May 10 and June 28, 2027, using the Lowell Transfer Application. SFUSD says between 25 and 50 transfer assignments can be made overall, most in Grade 10, with no waitlist, appeal or sibling priority.
- Transfer points
- Transfer applicants need at least 48 points per school year, and SFUSD says the typical admit score is 60 per year. The four best grades each semester count, from English, laboratory sciences, social studies, mathematics and foreign language, at most one course per subject, with A=8, B=6, C=4, D=2, F=0 and no extra weight for honors, AP or IB.
- Questions
- The SFUSD Enrollment Center answers questions at 415-241-6085 or enrollinschool@sfusd.edu.
